September 17 – 23
On September 17, 1787, the Founding Fathers signed the U.S. Constitution. The Constitution, along with the Bill of Rights and other amendments, define our government and guarantee our rights. Each year, on September 17, Americans kick off Constitution Week by celebrating Constitution Day to commemorate the formation and signing, coupled with Citizenship Day to recognize all who by birth, coming of age or through immigration and naturalization, have become United States citizens.
As the country gets ready to celebrate next week, now is a great time to reflect on our rights and responsibilities and what it means to be a U.S. citizen. What better way than through comics! Check out the reading list below, many of which are currently on display in the Comics Corner on the 1st floor of Love Library.
