Hello, my name is Julia Wros. My pronouns are she/they, and I am a first year History masters student. My research specialty is Gender and Sexuality in Greek and Roman antiquity, and I love to explore those in my research and in comics. Comics provide a valuable insight into history, giving us insight into the thoughts of the author. The ability to experiment with the various compositions, art styles, coloring, and layouts make comics a fascinating medium.
One of my favorite comics is The Wicked + the Divine, which focuses on the idea of divinity, and what normal humans turned gods would do with it. The premise revolves around the idea that the gods come back every ninety-nine years to live one year on earth as superstars, and the unfolding mystery that surrounds this phenomenon. The comic features a wide representation of LGBTQ+ characters and relationships, and was a wonderful read.
